The Joys of Fatherhood

Well, I'm a few months down the line now as the father of a gorgeous little girl, Isabel, and am loving it! Mum's recovered well, Isabel's sleeping through the night (wahey!) and the bags under the eyes are receding. Any chances of me being a disciplinarian have disappeared as she's a complete Daddy's girl and already has me wrapped around her little finger (and that's a very little little finger indeed).

To satiate my hunger for gorgeous pictures of my little one, I picked up a Nikon D40 and have been having great fun snapping. Flickr is also fantastic and I'm definitely becoming a shutterbug!

Yeah man, I'm so web 2.0

Well, how to start my first post? Out goes the old co-located FreeBSD server with hand-crafted PHP site and in comes the ultra-low maintenance, commercially hosted blog. With my first born on it's way (it's already 6 days overdue) my desire to endlessly tweak Apache builds and postfix rules is greatly reduced.

Hopefully 'blogger' will be up to the task of handling content, and it will be interesting to see how I can fit in all my old stuff. A default template will do for now, but I can feel the urge to 'tweak' already kicking in!

I've decided to consolidate all my old domains and emails into this new one: 'cloudhalo.com'. I was amazed at how hard it is to choose a domain these days. They're all gone, either actually in use or are being sat on by speculative name registrars (yes, I'm sure you can get me a good price on the domain, you own the damn thing and $2000 is not a good price). Well, I'm happy with this one so lets get on with some wonderful web adventures!
